Ari meets up with Lane Ferguson, Guitarist for San Antonio Hardcore, Open World; they talk about; How Open World Formed, Some of the Personal influences behind certain songs, What influences Lane's sound, and Lane's Personal Thoughts on the San Antonio scene.

The conversation kicks off with the story of how Open World formed, Anthony Williams, the drummer and a old friend of Lane's message him years after meeting to see if he still played guitar, after quickly realizing they both still played and were both looking to start a band: Open World was created.

From there, Lane opens up about the more personal side of Open World’s music. Behind the breakdowns and pit-ready aggression are vocalist Dave’s stories rooted in everyday struggles, like the frustration of doing your taxes, as captured in the song Ruse. Each track becomes more than just a release; it’s a personal statement.

"It's kinda like a crapshoot... It just depends, but it's about life, family, and shit that makes us mad." - Lane shares.

As for Lane’s guitar work, it’s not just fast and heavy. It’s intentional, he talks about the bands that shaped him, from classic New York hardcore staples like Trapped Under Ice, to South Florida's Straight Edge, Think As Blood. That mix of influences helps give Lane's sound for Open World feel both familiar and fresh.

"To see it still going and getting even bigger is just a really cool feeling"
