This article was edited for clarity by myself, but the band took the liberty of writing their own passage when I requested some information. With that disclaimer out of the way, they bang. This is the first and only article with a by-proxy writing format. I will continue to personally write the reviews/articles going forward. - Kadin

Mourning Sun has undergone many transformations since its inception. The band was originally formed in 2015 by Emmanuel Facio (bass), who was also the original guitarist, along with his longtime best friend during their high school years. Over the years, the group experienced several personnel changes and name shifts before solidifying into what is now known as Mourning Sun.

"Initially, we performed under the name Closed Eyes & Open Minds and released our debut single, Where It Hurts the Most (2016). That same year, we began working with Brandon Layne of Artick Studios to record our first collective EP, Therapy Sessions."

"Later in 2016, our vocalist had a eureka moment upon seeing the morning sun, and remarked, "The morning sun is hitting my eyes." In that moment, we all looked at each other and, almost instinctively, agreed. Mourning Sun was the perfect name to define us."

MOURNING SUN'S INSPIRATIONS:

"Our influences have evolved over time. When the band first started, we drew heavy inspiration from acts such as Bring Me The Horizon, Asking Alexandria, Oh, Sleeper, Underoath, and Silent Planet. Now, with a lineup that feels like a true brotherhood, our creative direction continues to shift and adapt, allowing each member's unique influences to shape our sound dynamically."

PLANS FOR THE FUTURE:

"While we can't reveal too much just yet, we can confidently say that the next chapter of Mourning Sun is something you won't see coming. We're stepping into a new era, and we hope you're ready for what's ahead."

Go spin some Mourning Sun!!
